Music Box 31st December 2022

We start with an absolute classic from 60s The Fire, a Hounslow, UK band that recorded between 1967 and 1970 and criminally only managed to release two singles and one LP. This is their last single, Father's Name Was Dad (Decca 7” 1968). Brilliant.
Local Tourist are an Indie pop trio formed in 2019 in Christchurch, New Zealand. This is Alive, from their debut LP Other Ways Of Living (Melted Ice Cream/Lovers Weekend Records 2022). Buy here.
Our UK pop-psyche gem from 1969 comes from band The Onyx (website), a Beat/pop/rock band from Cornwall, England. Active from 1965 to 1971, when they released six singles, before changing their name to Vineyard. This is their fourth, Tamaris Khan (Pye 7” 1969).
Jessica Pratt (website) is an American guitarist and singer-songwriter from San Francisco, currently based in Los Angeles, California. This is Back, Baby, from her second LP On Your Own Love Again (Drag City 2015).
We conclude with deux chants from French pop princess Françoise Hardy - L'Anamour, from her eponymous ninth LP (vogue 1968) and then fini with Le Temps Des Souvenirs, from the E.P. of the same name (Vogue 7” 1965). Magnifique! Jusqu'à la semaine prochaine/Until next week …
