Girls were an indie rock band from San Francisco, California formed in 2007. This is the official video for their last single My Ma (True Panther Sounds 7” 2012), taken from their second and final album Father, Son, Holy Ghost (True Panther Sounds 2011).

Syncopation hailed from Salford and only released one single, which I bought having heard it on the John Peel show. Here it is, Marking Time (Facsimile Liaisons 7” 1982). Fantastic.
Tinariwen is a Tuareg group, formed in 1982. Tinariwen means "empty place" in the language of the Berbers of the Saharan desert and they play a mix of blues, rock and traditional Tuareg music. This is Arghane Manine, from their twelfth LP Kel Tinariwen (Wedge 2022). Hope you like it. Buy here.

First, Man in the Corner Shop, from their fifth studio LP Sound Affects (Polydor 1980), then we conclude with the haunting Ghosts, from their sixth and final album The Gift (Polydor 1982). A brilliant group, who had a massive influence on Britpop a decade later. Until next week …
