Music Box 10th June 2023

We start today with French goddess Françoise Hardy, and Je Fais Des Puzzle, the B-side to her single Soleil (Sonopresse 7” 1970). Enchanté.
Next up, Doctor Who actress Catherine Howe (website) who began a career in the folk singer/songwriter scene of the early 70s. This is On A Misty Morning, from her solo LP What A Beautiful Place (Reflection 1970). She released three more albums in the 70s, then took time off, returning in 2005.
Next up, the awesome Joy Division, and Disorder, the opening track of their debut LP Unknown Pleasures (Factory 1979 cat no. FACT10). A brilliant song.
The Misfits are an American horror-themed punk rock band from Lodi, New Jersey. Formed in early 1977, they took the band name from Marilyn Monroe's last film and in fact, thanked the cast of the movie on the back of their first record. This is Hybrid Moments, from their third LP Legacy Of Brutality (Plan 9 1985)
We conclude with modern British folk artist Lucy Farrell and a couple of tracks from her. First, But For You (self-released digital single 2022). Buy here. Then we conclude with this year’s Safe In The Open, from her debut LP We Are Only Sound (Hudson Records 2023) Buy here. Until next week ...
