Music Box August 19th 2023

We start with French yé-yé singer Dalida, a singer and actress of Italian parents, born Yolanda Gigliotti on January 17th 1933 in Cairo, Egypt and died on May 3rd 1987 in Paris, France. This is Ciao Amore Ciao (Barclay 7” 1967).
I know nothing about band Girls From Tahiti except that they released one E.P. and one cassette in the mid-80s and seem to be German Swiss. This is Streets On Spite, from the Tower Of Love E.P. (R.F. Records 12" 1984).
Next up, a classic from Düsseldorf electro band Kraftwerk, and Computer Love (EMI 7”/12” 1981), the title track to their eight LP Computerwelt (Kling Klang/EMI 1981).
Wardell are siblings Sasha Spielberg and Theo Spielberg, and this is Opossum, from the The Brother / Sister EP (National Anthem 10” 2013), which seems to be their only release. Shame.
We conclude with a double-bill from Joy Division/New Order bassist Peter Hook’s solo efforts. First, his debut with band Revenge, and 7 Reasons (Factory 7”/12”/CD 1989 cat no. FAC247), then his biggest solo hit, with Monaco and single What Do You Want From Me? (Polydor 7”/12”/CD 1997), also found on their debut LP Music For Pleasure (Polydor 1997). Enjoy. Until next week …
