Music Box July 20th 2024

We start with British musical composer Edwin Astley, and a haunting piece of incidental music from 60s Brit TV show The Saint, from The Saint (Original Soundtrack) (Network 4CD2010), also found on The Music of ITC (Network 2CD2009). Mr Astley was a musical genius, whose theme tunes and incidental music made 60s British TV a more memorable and cheerful place.
Next up, late 60s ‘supergroup’ Crosby, Stills and Nash, and their standalone single, the protest song Ohio (Atlantic 7” 1970)
Next up, Brighton’s finest Porridge Radio, and 7 Seconds (Secretly Canadian 7" 2020)  Buy here
The Scavengers were a Sutherland, Iowa garage rock band, and here’s It's Over, the B-side of their sole release, single But If You're Happy (IGL 7" 1966)
We conclude with  a double-bill from Garbage. First, Sleep, from the single Only Happy When It Rains (Mushroom 7"/CD 1995) and then the James Bond theme The World Is Not Enough (Radioactive/MCA all formats 1999). Brilliant. Until next week …
