Sandy Denny was an English singer, songwriter and musician, famous for her stints with Fairport Convention, Fotheringay, and Led Zeppelin (the only guest vocalist they ever used, on their 4th LP). as well as her solo LPs. One of the great British female artists of the late 60s and 70s she sadly died far too young aged 31 in 1978 after falling down the stairs. Bandcamp have released her early 60s home recordings, and from it here comes a cover of the Jackson C Frank classic Blues Run The Game. Buy here

We conclude with one of my favourite artistes, Glendale California singer/songwriter (and Gilmore girl composer) .Sam Phillips. First, Watching Out Of This World from her seventh LP Don't Do Anything (Nonesuch 2008), then the wonderful acoustic guitar & drums of Love Changes Everything, from her sixth LP A Boot And A Shoe (Nonesuch 2004). Until next week ...
