Music Box 12th April 2025

We start with Anna Domino, an Indie rock artist, born 1955 Tokyo, Japan, who was particularly associated with Belgisan boutique label  Les Disques du Crépuscule. Here's Wonderkeys, a new song recorded specifically for Les Disques du Crépuscule tribute sampler After Twilight (LTM 2010).
Amelia Rahayu Murray (born 1993) is a New Zealand singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. She is best known for her musical project Fazerdaze. As Fazerdaze here's Cherry Pie, from her second album  Soft Power ( Buttrfly Records Antipodes/section1 rest of world 2024).  Buy here
Mancunian legends The Hollies, Parlophone's biggest-selling act after The Beatles, and a real rarity. Try It was the B-side to the non-UK version of single Jennifer Eccles (e.g. USA Epic 7" 1968). In the UK the B-side was Open Up Your Eyes
Next up, another rarity, from J.K. & Co. This group was led by Jay Kaye, who was only 15 when he assembled J. K. & Co. in early 1968. With assistance from arranger Robert Buckley (also still in his teens), producer Robin Spurgin, and session musicians. As a band, J. K. & Co. didn't really exist until after the album was completed, and Kaye formed a group to play the material live that included his cousin John Kaye on bass. Although the LP got a little bit of exposure on Californian underground radio stations, it was not well-promoted and remains barely known. This is track Fly, from their LP Suddenly One Summer (White Whale 1968)
We conclude with The Doors double-bill, Strange Days & People Are Strange, from their second LP Strange Days (Elektra 1967). Brilliant. Until next week ...
