Beirut are an American band which was originally the solo musical project of Santa Fe native Zachary Francis Condon, and later expanded into a band. From his debut LP Gulag Orkestar (Ba Da Bing!/4AD 2006) here's the official video for the classic Postcards From Italy.
Next up, unknown artist Regis Mull, and his sole release, single I Saw Your Face (Verve Folkways 7" 1967)
Sleater-Kinney (website), the name is taken from a local freeway off-ramp, were in the middle of the Riot Grrrl scene in the 1990s, formed in Olympia, Washington (USA) in 1994, then moved to Portland, Oregon. Went on "indefinite hiatus" in 2006. Reformed in 2014. This Time comes from their eleventh studio LP Little Rope (Loma Vista 2024).   Buy here
Wye Oak, a duo originally from Baltimore Marland, are one of my favourite current bands, and here' s B-side Wave Is Not The Water, which backed Spiral (Adult Swim/Merge 7" 2017). Absolutely brilliant.
I'm surprised, and a little ashamed, that I've never posted one of Scotland's finest ever bands, Glasgow's very own Orange Juice. Rectifying that omission right now, with a double-bill, both sides of their second single, Blue Boy c/w Lovesick (Postcard Records 7" 1980 cat no. 80-2). Indie pop never sounded so good or infectious! Until next week ...
