Music Box 25th October 2025

The Lynx were a band from Tyler, Texas, USA. According to booklet's liner notes of CD "Texas Flashback Volume 1" this 60s garage rock group was from Kilgore, TX. The history begins with Ken Freeman, David Wade, Joe Barns, Jerry Howell, Mike McGuffin and others who were all members of the Kilgore Jr. High School band. You Lie (Thunderball 7" 1967), their first of only two single releases
Buck Owens (August 12, 1929 – March 25, 2006) was an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was the frontman for The Buckaroos, which had 21 No. 1 hits on the Billboard country music chart. He pioneered what came to be called the Bakersfield sound, named in honor of Bakersfield, California, Owens's adopted home and the city from which he drew inspiration for what he preferred to call "American music". Here's Buck Owens & The Buckaroos with Act Naturally (Capitol 7" 1963) composer Voni Morrison, Johnny Russell.
Philippe Sarde is a French film composer, one of a trio of great French film music composers, along with  Georges Delerue and Maurice Jarre, who rank among the best film composers ever (and among my favourites). He wrote many scores for French director André Téchiné, including the Hotel Des Amériques Suite, which can be found on the LP Philippe Sarde – Le Cinéma D'André Téchiné (Écoutez Le Cinéma! 2004). My video features screenshots from the film of the same name, which is stunningly brilliant, and I highly recommend it
Next up, Blackpool band Section 25 , and the opening  The Process, from their third LP From The Hip (Factory 1984 cat no. FACT90)
We conclude with both sides of The Jam's tenth single, the standalone double-A sider Going Underground c/w The Dreams of Children (Polydor 7" 1980), which debuted at No.1 in the UK charts, their first of four number ones. Here are the official videos, including the rare one of Children, which I'd never seen before. Until next week ...
