We start with an artist unknown to me, Tiefe Wasser Berlin, and the haunting Where Echoes Go, from their E.P. Yoga Blues (self released digital 2026) Buy here
Disraeli were a 1960s rock group from Astoria, Oregon who managed the amazing feat (for a garage group) of releasing four singles on their own label, though sadly not an LP. This is their second, What Will The New Day Bring? (Mantra 7" 1967)
Now for the brilliant The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and a song that shows his songwriting brilliance, often overlooked in favour of his guitar pyrotechnics. This is the excellent Castles Made of Sand, from their second album (of the year too) Axis: Bold As Love (Track 1967). Next week I'll post a couple more from the man.
The Plague hailed from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, and were active in the mid-1960s, releasing two singles. This is their debut The Face Of Time (Reo 7" 1966)
We conclude with a couple from Mancunian miserabilists The Smiths. First, Back to the Old House, the B-side of their third single What Difference Does It Make? (Rough Trade 7"/122 1984). Then from their third LP The Queen Is Dead (Rough Trade 1986) we have There Is A Light That Never Goes Out . Until next week ...
