We start today with Manchester's finest Joy Division, and the opening track to their debut LP Unknown Pleasures (Factory 1979 cat no. FACT10), the mighty Disorder. What an opening!
Love were an American psychedelic rock group, formed in Los Angeles in 1965. They signed to Elektra Records along with the Doors (who were influenced by them in their early days). This is their fifth single She Comes In Colors (Elektra 7" 1966), also featured on their second LP Da Capo (Elektra 1967)
Next up, The Rolling Stones's third single, their awesome cover of the Buddy Holly song Not Fade Away (Decca 7" 1964), which they perform as if it was a Bo Diddley song. Sheer genius.
Next up, a classic from Talking Heads, an were an American rock band formed in 1975 in New York City and disbanded in 1991. The band comprised David Byrne (lead vocals, guitar), Chris Frantz (drums), Tina Weymouth (bass), and Jerry Harrison (keyboards, guitar). They released eight albums, in addition to several well received live albums. This is the official video for single Once in a Lifetime (Sire 7" 1980), also found on their classic fourth LP Remain In Light (Sire 1980), one of the albums of the year
As promised last week, a couple from The Jimi Hendrix Experience's third LP Electric Ladyland (Track 2XLP 1968), Crosstown Traffic, and his cover of the Bob Dylan song Along The Watchtower. Both absolutely fantastic. A talent taken from us far too soon. Until next week ...
