We start with Hamburg Germany group das bisschen Totschlag (sic), which translates as "that little bit of manslaughter", and this is track Tim, from their new LP 0dB Headroom (new basement LP/digital 2026) Buy here
Next up, to celebrate the release of a new album this July, an all-time classic from Durutti Column, Sketch For Summer, from their debut LP The Return of the Durutti Column (Factory 1980 cat no. FACT 14) Buy here
Karen Elson was an English model turned singer/songwriter, and this is her excellent debut single The Ghost Who Walks (Third Man 7" 2010), also featured on her debut LP The Ghost Who Walks (Third Man/XL Recordings 2010)
The Other Half were a San Francisco, California psychedelic group active in the mid-1960s. Here's song I've Come So Far, the B-side of their most famous (debut) single Mr. Pharmacist (GNP Crescendo 7" 1966), famously covered by The Fall.
We conclude with Bob Dylan's Knockin' On Heaven's Door, first as it's seen in Sam Peckinpah's excellent elegiac western Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid (USA 1973), then the single (CBS 7" 1973), which was a top 20 hit on both sides of the pond, featured on the soundtrack LP Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid (CBS 1973). Brilliant in its simplicity. Until next week ...
