Music Box 08/05/2021

This Saturday's musical pick 'n' mix is a varied assortment indeed. First, Nicole Andrews (website), who is a self-taught pianist and electronic artist from Portland Oregon, now based in New Zealand. This is the official video for Whisper, from her debut LP In The Shadows (self released 2015). Buy here.

Viewers of my Saturday morning music posts on the Britmovie site (which I've now migrated here) will know of my love for 60s British pop-psyche group Honeybus. This is the delicious For Where Have You Been, the B-side to their eight single, She Is The Female To My Soul (Bell 7" 1972).

The Paragons next, a Jamaican rocksteady group from the late 60s & 70s, and Know Yourself Mankind, from their fifth LP For You? (Black Joy 1982). Buy here.
The Vycounts (website) hailed from Texarkana, Arkansas and sadly only released one single, the brilliant Can't You Tell (Universal Artists 7" 1967). Fantastic. Hope you like it too.
We conclude today with a brace of 60s French pop TV for yé-yé artiste Pussy Cat. Born Evelyne Courtois, she started her career in 1964 as part of girl group Les petites Souris before going solo. Hymne au Soleil comes from her tenth and final single, the four track E.P. Cette Nuit (RCA Victor 7" 1969), then we conclude with her third single Ce N'est Pas Une Vie (RCA Victor 7" 1966). If it sounds familiar to British ears, it's because it's a French retooling of the Small Faces song Sha-La-La-La-Lee. Mon amis, à la semaine prochaine! ...
