Music Box April 27th 2024

We start with French chanteuse Chantal Goya. Born June 10, 1942 in Saigon (French Indochina). She is a French singer and actress. Chantal started her career during the 60s as a yé-yé girl, singing catchy pop songs. She also enjoyed a career as a French New Wave actress; she had a starring role as Madeleine in the 1966 Jean-Luc Godard film "Masculin, Féminin". Here's J'ai Le Cœur En Joie, J'ai Le Cœur En Peine, from the Pense Pas Trop E.P. (RCA 7" 1967)
Next up, 60s California band Inner Dialogue, and The Touch, from their debut LP Inner Dialogue (Ranwood 1969)
More 60s Americana with Mothers of Invention, and Trouble Comin' Everyday, from their debut LP Freak Out! (Verve 1966)
Now for my favourite modern band, Wye Oak, and Repeat (If You Remind Me), an original from their compilation LP Every Day Like The Last: Collected Singles 2019-2023 (Merge 2023). Excellent. Buy here
We conclude with a brace from Los Angeles 60s band The Doors. First, Break on Through (To the Other Side), from their debut LP The Doors (Elektra 167), then the beautiful You're Lost Little Girl, from their second LP Strange Days (Elektra 1967). Until next week ...
