Music Box 21st June 2025

Tarnation was an American alt-country band, formed by Paula Frazer in late 1992, primarily recording on the 4AD label. This is the official video for You'll Understand, from their third LP Mirador (4AD 1997).
Television Personalities were an English post-punk band formed in 1977 by London singer-songwriter Dan Treacy. Their varied, volatile and long career encompasses post punk, neo-psychedelia and indie pop, the only constant being Treacy's songwriting, and have had undergone numerous line-up changes along the way. This is the wonderful Stop and Smell the Roses, from the band's fourth LP The Painted Word (Illuminated 1984)
Tompot Blenny were an acoustic indie-folk trio from Nottingham. This is Smile Again, the third additional track from their debut E.P. Thinking Of Ways Of Keeping You Warm (Shinkansen Recordings 7" 1996)
We conclude with a real rarity, The Vandals, and Mary, the B-side of their sole release, single Your Love Will Die (D 7" 1966), a 1960s garage rock label from Atlanta, Georgia. Absolutely brilliant.
We conclude with garage legends, The Chocolate Watchband were a 1960's American garage/psychedelic rock band, formed in San Jose, California, USA, in 1965. Dissolution in 1970, reunited in 1999. Their use of distorted-psychedelic-style guitar made them one of the heavier bands of the period. Not to be confused with British band The Chocolate Watch Band. First, we have Sweet Young Thing (Uptown 7" 1967), their third single, and then we conclude with In The Past, from their second LP The Inner Mystique (Tower 1968). Until next week ...
