We start with The Alan Bown!, formed 1964 in Hamburg, Germany as The Alan Bown Set. This is Penny For Your Thoughts, from the new band's debut LP Outward Bown First Album (Music Factory 1968).
The Factory were originally named Souvenir Badge Factory, the Surrey-based group comprised three members. Their first single, Path Through The Forest b/w Gone (MGM 7" 1968) was a mind-bending piece of psychedelia which had a home in John Peel‘s box of favourite records.
Hamburger are a modern indie pop band from Bristol, England. Here's their song Buffalo, from their second LP Beat Back The Ghouls (Specialist Subject Records 2024) Buy here
Next up, Glasgow band The Wake (not to be confused with the American goth group since 1986), and track Judas, from their debut LP Harmony (Factory 1982 cat no. FACT60).
We conclude with a double from Small Faces, an English rock band from London, founded in 1965. The group originally consisted of Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones and Jimmy Winston, with Ian McLagan replacing Winston as the band's keyboardist in 1966. The band were one of the most acclaimed and influential mod groups of the 1960s. First, their tenth single, the standalone classic Itchycoo Park (Immediate 7" 1968), then we finish with their twelfth single Lazy Sunday Afternoon (Immediate 7" 1968), which reached Nos. 3 & 2 in the U.K. singles charts. The latter also came from their third LP Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake (Immediate 1968). Absolutely brilliant. A new compilation has just been released, Buy here. Until next week ...
